Do you remember when you first came to Jesus? You said, “Lord, I want You to take my old life and give me a new one, take every wrong I ever did and restore me.” Then you stepped into the watery grave and got baptized. Now, when you arose out of the water, you felt transformed. But what happened after? As the weeks passed you began to lose interest in being upright. You started looking to what people were doing instead of what God was saying. Then you lost your focus.
Sweet things now became a burden to hear. Studying the bible made you bored. Then there was no time for church and fellowshipping with your brothers and sisters. What happened?
Fear. Fear happened. It was not quite what you expected. You expected to come into the church and be put to use right away. You expected to make tons of friends because you shared the same beliefs. You were disappointed after a while and gave up on the one you joined the fold for.
Sometimes it can seem dreary when church is not what you expect. Don’t leave. God wants you there and called you there. He has a plan for you. When you gave Him your life, you gave Him everything; your time, resources, interests, likes, social media accounts, friends you will have, the role of being your guide to life. So, when it gets rough the key is not to run but run to Jesus.
